Parents, carers, staff and students at Kingsway Park High School, are being asked for their views on proposed changes to the school day which would begin from September 2026.
The proposed timetable would move the start of the day from 8.20am to 8.30am while keeping the current finishing time unchanged.
KPHS says the proposed changes follow the introduction of split lunches and feedback gathered through student voice activities.
Under the proposal, form time would begin at 8.30am for all year groups, with lessons starting at 9am. Afternoon finishing times would remain at 2.50pm.
Mr Ward says the changes are intended to improve attendance and punctuality, reduce behaviour issues at the end of lunch periods, and support staff workload and wellbeing.
The proposal would also introduce revised break and lunch arrangements designed to help students access food more quickly during the day.
In the consultation letter to parents and carers, Associate Headteacher Mr S Collins said the school believed the revised structure would create "a smoother transition from lunch to learning" and "a more consistent and orderly start to afternoon lessons".
KPHS has confirmed there would be no reduction in learning time and no impact on after school clubs or transport arrangements.
Parents and carers wishing to comment on the proposal have been invited to complete an online survey before noon on Tuesday 2 June 2026.
The consultation remains ongoing and no final decision has yet been made.
