People across Rochdale borough can now raise money for the Mayor's Charity Appeal through their everyday online shopping without paying anything extra.
Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Faisal Rana has partnered with Easy Fundraising to encourage residents to support local charities while shopping with thousands of participating retailers.
The initiative allows shoppers to generate free donations for the Mayor's Charity Appeal when they buy goods or services online through the Easy Fundraising platform. More than 8,000 brands have signed up to the scheme, including supermarkets, fashion retailers, travel companies and technology businesses.
Residents in Heywood, Middleton, the Pennines and Rochdale are being encouraged to download the app or use the website before making purchases. A percentage of the value of each eligible transaction is then donated by the retailer to the appeal at no additional cost to the customer.
Councillor Rana said "This is a fantastic scheme that makes a bit of retail therapy even more enjoyable, so please make your routine shopping count, download the app and give the Mayor's Charity Appeal a welcome boost. Together we can make a huge difference for free.
"I am already using the app, it took a couple of minutes to sign up and it's really easy to use. There's even a running total of how much has been donated. People can shop online as normal, it costs exactly the same, with the brands donating a small percentage of each purchase to our wonderful charities.
"Throughout my mayoral year the mayoress and I hope we can rely on people's support to raise important funds for these charities. Working together, we can all play our part in supporting what they do to improve people's lives."
The Mayor's Charity Appeal for the 2026 to 2027 civic year will support Springhill Hospice, The Christie, SANDS, Rochdale Veterans' Breakfast Club and the Rochdale Women's Welfare Association.
