Oulder Hill Leadership Academy has recorded its highest proportion of pupils achieving grades 9 to 5 in both English and Mathematics.
The Rochdale school said 50% achieved grades 9 to 5 in both subjects in this year’s GCSE results, while 67% secured grades 9 to 4.
Fatima Fahad was among the school’s highest-performing pupils, achieving four grade 9s, five grade 8s and a Level 2 Distinction.
Earlier this year, she received the Academic Excellence Award at the Rochdale Encouraging You Awards.
Fatima will now study Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Science at Rochdale Sixth Form.
Her father said: “We have a long family history with Oulder Hill and have always worked well with the teachers who are extremely supportive. After COVID, she struggled, but the support and the school’s conversion to Star Academies has been transformational.”
Spencer Blackband achieved three grade 8s, including in English Language and English Literature, a grade 7 in Mathematics, a grade 6 in Photography and a Level 2 Merit in Digital IT. He also achieved strong passes in his other subjects.
He will study Biology, Geography and Mathematics at Rochdale Sixth Form.
Spencer said: “I am so grateful for the friends I have made and all of the support the school has given me, especially in Year 11.”
Head Girl Veronica Asnani achieved four grade 8s, two grade 7s, two grade 6s, a grade 5 and a Level 2 Distinction.
She spent part of the summer at Pembroke College at the University of Oxford, where the school said she experienced life as an Oxbridge student and delivered a talk to more than 200 delegates.
Veronica will continue her studies at Rochdale Sixth Form.
Deputy Head Boy Michael Tarran achieved one grade 9, six grade 8s, two grade 7s and a grade 6. He plans to study English Literature, Psychology and Film Studies.
Manahil Shaban, who joined Oulder Hill in Year 10 after moving to the UK, achieved a grade 9 in Urdu, a Level 2 Distinction and five grade 8s, including English, Mathematics and Science.
Principal Adi Smale said: “Today is a moment to recognise not only the excellent results our pupils have achieved, but the character, resilience and ambition they have shown throughout their time at Oulder Hill. These results are a testament to the hard work of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support of our families and wider school community.
“I am particularly proud of the way our pupils have risen to challenges and continued to strive for excellence. Whether they are celebrating the very highest grades or achieving personal milestones against the odds, every pupil should feel immensely proud of what they have accomplished.”
The results follow Oulder Hill being named a Silver award winner in the Making a Difference Secondary School of the Year category of the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
The school said 99% of its pupils progress to positive destinations.
