The Kirkholt Pantry has marked its 10th anniversary with a celebration at The Strand, recognising a decade of providing affordable food and support to residents across the Kirkholt community.
The pantry has distributed more than 23,000 bags of essential food items since opening and continues to help households manage rising living costs.
Colleagues, customers and volunteers gathered at The Strand this week to celebrate, including some of the people who helped establish the pantry when it first opened a decade ago.
The community initiative allows members to collect a bag of essential food items for £4 each week. The pantry is open every Thursday from 10am until 12pm.
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing said the pantry has handed out more than 23,000 bags of essential food items over the past 10 years and thanked everyone who has contributed to its success.
Councillor Daniel Meredith described it as one he was proud to help create and continue supporting through donations and funding from Rochdale South Township.
He said the pantry had become "a lifeline for local residents, offering affordable access to essential food items and helping to ease the pressure on household budgets".
Councillor Meredith thanked volunteers, donors and everyone involved on Facebook in keeping the pantry running over the past decade.
He said the project was "a shining example of community spirit and partnership in action".
