Rochdale MP Paul Waugh has praised Rochdale AFC’s “never say die spirit” ahead of the club’s trip to Wembley.
The lifelong Dale supporter said the team had given fans “so many moments of sheer joy” during what he described as a special season.
Mr Waugh paid tribute to manager Jim McNulty and the squad for their performances under pressure as excitement builds ahead of the Wembley occasion.
He said: “I’m so proud of this Rochdale team and the never-say-die spirit they’ve shown throughout this really special season.
“They’ve given us fans so many moments of sheer joy and it’s a real credit to Jim as a manager that they have shown such their togetherness under pressure.
“It’s so nice to see the club and our town in the national spotlight for all the right reasons.
“I’ll be at Wembley cheering them on with my family as usual. Up the Dale!”
Rochdale supporters are expected to travel in large numbers for the match, with the club aiming to cap off a memorable campaign at the national stadium.
