Bury Pride's Rainbow Train returns in style

The Rainbow Train made a welcome return on Sunday 19th April, bringing together over 170 passengers for a fantastic evening of celebration, community spirit and entertainment.

Departing from Bolton Street Station, the train travelled to Rawtenstall and back, with plenty happening both on board and at the destination. Passengers were greeted on the platform by the brilliant Bury Fire Choir, who many will recognise from their performances at Bury Pride, setting a lively and uplifting tone before departure.

Once on board, each carriage offered something a little different. There was plenty of fun to be had in the karaoke carriage, while those with a love of mysteries could enjoy the LGBTQI+ true crime carriage.

A youth carriage, hosted by the Proud Trust Foundation, provided a welcoming space for younger passengers, alongside an arts and crafts carriage for those feeling creative. There was also a quiet carriage available for anyone wanting a more relaxed journey.

At Rawtenstall, passengers were treated to live entertainment, adding even more to what was already a packed and enjoyable trip.

The event was also supported by Mark Llewellin DL, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, who came along to show his support and say a few words on the platform before the train set off.

Speaking to the Bury Pride committee, a big thank you goes to the East Lancashire Railway for hosting the event. Without their support, the Rainbow Train simply wouldn’t be possible.

The Rainbow Train continues to be a highlight in the Bury Pride and regional Pride calendar, celebrating inclusion and bringing people together for a truly unique experience.
