Art on a Postcard exhibition to bring artists from across the UK to Whitefield

An exhibition featuring work by artists, illustrators and poets from across the UK will open in Whitefield later this month. The community led exhibition will include submissions from poet Tony Walsh, with all artwork available to buy at accessible prices.

Art in Whitefield is presenting its summer exhibition, Art on a Postcard, at Besses o' th' Barn Band on Moss Lane.

The exhibition has been curated by professional artists from the Art in Whitefield community group and aims to showcase a wide range of original work from contributors across the UK.

Curator Felicity Brangan said, "The exhibition gives all visitors to Whitefield something to write home about. The Art is sublime, local delicacies are intricate and stunning, abstracts pop and dazzle, and the landscapes are magnificent.

"And the location, right at the heart of historical Whitefield, home to world renowned Besses o' th' Barn Brass Band established in 1818.

"Wish you were here."

The opening event will take place on Thursday 27 August from 5pm until 8pm. The exhibition will then continue each day from Friday 28 August until Thursday 3 September between 12pm and 4pm.

The exhibition will be held at Besses o' th' Barn Band, 2 Moss Lane, Whitefield, M45 6HG.

Free tickets for the opening evening are available through Eventbrite.

Art in Whitefield describes itself as an informal grass roots network of artists and art enthusiasts working to encourage more art and culture in Whitefield while supporting artists from across the UK to exhibit in the town.
