Elsie Blundell MP has praised staff and pupils at Oulder Hill Leadership Academy after a visit with education minister Josh MacAlister.
The Heywood and Middleton North MP said the Rochdale school was making strong progress on attainment and attendance.
She was joined by Mr MacAlister, a former Oulder Hill pupil, and Rochdale MP Paul Waugh, who also attended the school.
Ms Blundell said the school had seen overall educational success rise by 10 percent, with a 22 percent rise for pupils receiving free school meals and 12 percent for pupils with SEND.
Attendance is also reported to have increased by up to 8 percent.
Ms Blundell said, “The school is doing excellent work at turning around outcomes for local children and the pupils themselves are showing the same initiative to improve their learning.”
She added, “Josh MacAlister is a former pupil at the school and is now a Government Minister, so I was especially pleased to show him around. My focus is making sure all schools in the area are able to give our children the start they need.”
