More than 3,000 people attended Rochdale's Street Eat food and drink festival as the event returned to Town Hall Square with a day of international cuisine, live entertainment and family activities.
The annual festival transformed Rochdale Town Hall Square into a bustling hub of food, music and entertainment, showcasing businesses from across the borough and beyond.
Organised by Rochdale's Business Improvement District and supported by Rochdale Borough Council, the event featured a diverse selection of food and drink vendors offering everything from hot dogs and Caribbean cuisine to waffles, crepes, ice cream and craft beer.
Business Improvement District manager Paul Ambrose said, “It was such a busy day, showcasing Rochdale’s growing food and drink scene on our beautiful town hall square.
“It was heart-warming to see so many families and friends enjoying time together and the feedback about our traders and performers was fantastic. Big thanks go to the amazing town centre food and drink businesses and everyone who came along to support the event. Rochdale town centre has so much to offer in terms of food and drink. Street Eat is about supporting those local businesses and creating a hub where people can come together to enjoy great food, music and company.”
Alongside the food and drink offer, visitors enjoyed a programme of free entertainment and family activities, including face painting, a selfie booth, children's rides and a caricaturist.
The event's sound stage was hosted by Di Lynham and featured performances from Shenanigans, Saskia Starkie, Suzanne Hassett and pupils from Turners Dance School.
Rochdale Music Service also took part, with performances from its brass band, youth choir, pop choir and rock band.
Among those attending were the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Faisal Rana, and mayoress Iram Faisal.
Councillor Sue Smith, Rochdale Borough Council's cabinet member for communities and co operation, said, “From the variety of local businesses to the fantastic atmosphere, this year’s Street Eat was another fantastic day and the weather was very kind to us.
“It was wonderful to see so many residents and visitors coming together, supporting local businesses. It’s a great celebration of the incredible food and drink offer we have here in our town.”
Visitors also praised the festival on social media, with many highlighting the atmosphere, attendance and positive impact on the town centre.
