A man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries after being glassed outside Hogarth's pub in Rochdale Town Centre, police confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to reports of two men fighting on The Butts Avenue at about 7 pm on Thursday 23 June.
Speaking to witnesses on the scene, they said that a son and father were in an altercation and that the son glassed the father.
Blood could be seen around The Butts on the floor with a wide police cordon last night whilst crime scene investigators were working.
A further update from Greater Manchester Police will be provided in due course.
