Greater Manchester Police have escalated their investigation into the disappearance of Craig Foy, 40, who has not been seen since Saturday 26 July. A possible sighting in Heaton Park has shifted the focus of the search, which is now being led by the force’s Major Incident Team.
Craig was last seen on Bury Old Road near Kenyon Lane in Prestwich at around 11.30pm. CCTV footage appears to show him entering Heaton Park just before midnight that same night. He is described as 5ft 5in tall, of slim build with short dark hair shaved at the sides, and was last seen wearing a black cap, square glasses, a black T-shirt, black cargo trousers and black Nike trainers.
The investigation has led to the arrest of three men on suspicion of murder. One has been released on bail, while two others will face no further action at this stage. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that enquiries remain active.
Detective Chief Inspector Jill Billington from GMP’s Serious Crime Division said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Craig’s welfare and his family are desperate to find him and hear from him.”
She added that officers are conducting ongoing searches in and around Heaton Park, with specialist resources working alongside detectives. “Our overriding aim is to bring Craig back to his loved ones.”
The force has now launched a public appeal for information, urging anyone who may have seen Craig or spoken to him to come forward. Police are particularly interested in dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the area between 11.30pm and midnight on 26 July.
Craig had left his home on King’s Close, Prestwich, alone and on foot. Since that night, he has not made contact with anyone.
The family have released a new photo of Craig to aid the search. GMP has made it available via its Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP), which the public can use to upload photos, videos or any relevant information.
DCI Billington concluded: “We are grateful for the public’s support so far. Every piece of information, no matter how small, is helping us build a clearer picture of Craig’s last known movements.”
