Calendar Girls the Musical is written by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth and will be directed by Paul Robinson, artistic director at the Stephen Joseph Theatre.

The story follows a group of women in a Yorkshire Women’s Institute who create a fundraising calendar after the death of a husband. The project attracts widespread attention and leads to unexpected personal and emotional changes for those involved.
The story is based on real events and has previously been adapted into a film, stage play and musical.
Lotte Wakeham, artistic director at Octagon Theatre Bolton, said, “Calendar Girls the Musical is a story that has resonated deeply with audiences for years, we are delighted to be bringing it to our stage for the very first time, and to celebrate the incredible writing talents of two giants of the North West Gary Barlow and Tim Firth.
“Its warmth, wit and sense of community feel especially at home here at the Octagon. I am particularly excited to see how this popular musical will be brought to life in our unique space, and to share that experience together with everyone who walks through our doors.”
