Rochdale AFC has appointed Laura Thomas as its new chief executive officer, marking a leadership change at the club.
The club confirmed Laura Thomas will take up the role following what it described as an extensive recruitment process. She brings more than 20 years of experience across sports leadership, marketing and commercial roles.
Co chair Cameron Ogden said “After an extensive search and interview process, we are delighted to welcome Laura to the Football Club as our new CEO.
“Laura has extensive leadership experience at multiple organisations, including the world renowned British Cycling.
“She will focus on continuing to drive the club forward and help bring to life Project 5,000, which is one of many projects we want to achieve over the coming years.”
Laura Thomas said “I’m thrilled to be joining Rochdale AFC at such an exciting time for the club.
“What draws me here is something that you can’t manufacture, owners with a genuine connection to the town, a fanbase that cares deeply, and a team that is proving what’s possible on the pitch.
“I’m proud to be joining the club’s leadership at this moment and committed to helping build on everything that makes Rochdale AFC unique.”
Her previous roles include senior positions at British Cycling as well as work in sportswear and clothing with Kukri Sports and Banner. She most recently worked as a managing director in the creative industry and also serves as a trustee for a homelessness charity.
The club said managing director Andy Duff will oversee a handover period before stepping down at the end of the current season, thanking him for his contribution and commitment.
