Rochdale have confirmed Head Coach Jimmy McNulty has left the club to join League One side Stockport County.
McNulty departs after leading Dale back into the EFL following a promotion-winning campaign.
The club announced McNulty's departure on Friday and thanked him for his contribution during a successful spell as both a player and Head Coach.
In a statement, Rochdale AFC said McNulty had been central to a season that delivered promotion back to the EFL and praised his commitment to the club, the town and the squad.
The club said he leaves Rochdale in a stronger position and described his impact as part of the foundations for the next stage of its development.
Rochdale AFC also confirmed preparations for a managerial succession have been underway since promotion was secured.
The club said a number of candidates have already been identified and discussions are progressing, with an appointment expected ahead of the new League Two campaign.
McNulty has spent 11 years at Spotland and released an open letter to supporters following his departure.
Reflecting on his time at the club, he wrote, "After 11 incredible years at Rochdale AFC, my chapter has come to an end."
He thanked chairman Cameron Ogden and the board for their support and paid tribute to the club's supporters.
McNulty said, "To the fans and supporters, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Your passion, your loyalty, and your incredible support, especially through the difficult times, have meant more than you will ever know."
He also praised club staff and players, describing them as central to the achievements of recent years.
Referring to the promotion-winning season, he wrote, "To end this chapter by winning promotion together at Wembley Stadium, there really is no more perfect way to say goodbye."
McNulty concluded his message by reaffirming his affection for the club.
He said, "Rochdale AFC will always have a special place in my heart. This isn’t goodbye forever, just the closing of one very special chapter."
Stockport County will begin the new season in League One, while Rochdale prepare for life back in League Two following their return to the EFL.
