A 24 year old man has died after being struck by a vehicle on the M61 in the early hours of Friday. Police are appealing for information following the incident.
Officers were called at around 2.25am on 3 April 2026 to reports that a man had been hit by a vehicle between junctions 3 and 4 of the M61 near Bolton.
Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as aged 24.
Greater Manchester Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting officers. No arrests have been made.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant information to come forward. This includes drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage.
