Police have launched an arson investigation after a huge fire caused extensive damage to a commercial property, caravan and vehicles on Bury New Road in Salford.

Investigators believe the fire was a targeted incident but say there is no wider risk to the public.

Emergency services were called to Bury New Road at around 1.50am on Thursday 6 August after an alarm was activated at a commercial property.

Police arrived to find crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service tackling a fire involving a caravan next to the property.

The flames had spread from the caravan to the building and caused extensive damage.

Several cars parked nearby were also damaged.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed nobody was injured.

Detectives are treating the fire as arson and are appealing for witnesses and footage as they investigate how it started.

Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from Salford CID, said, "This was a huge fire that caused extensive damage to a commercial property and several vehicles. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident.

"We're treating this as arson and we're appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious, to come forward. We're particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the evening of Wednesday 5 August or Thursday 6 August that could assist our investigation."

Police currently believe the fire was targeted and said there is no wider risk to members of the public.

Anyone with information can contact police on 0161 856 5224 or 101, quoting incident 223 of 6 August 2026.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
