Parents at St Cuthberts RC High School have been told that further strike action will take place next week as an ongoing dispute involving the NASUWT and NEU continues.
The school said pupils in Years 7 to 10 will learn remotely on 12 May 13 May and 14 May while Year 11 students due to sit GCSE exams will continue to attend in person.
In a letter sent to families today, 8 May, school leaders apologised for the continuing disruption and said the industrial action was causing uncertainty for parents and carers.
The school confirmed that remote work will be set for students in Years 7 to 10 during the strike days. Vulnerable pupils identified by the school will still be able to attend and free school meal grab bags will remain available.
The letter said discussions had continued between the trust school leaders and union representatives in recent months. Concerns raised by staff were said to include behaviour health and safety workload and staff support.
School leaders said changes approved by the trust board were part of wider plans to improve leadership behaviour and school culture while supporting long term improvement at the school.
The trust also acknowledged the wider national backdrop of industrial action across the education sector including discussions around pay and school structures.
Parents were told the school remained committed to constructive dialogue with union representatives in the hope of reaching a resolution.
