Jubilee Park was the place to be today, Sunday, 10 August, as Rotary Middleton brought back its much-loved Proms in the Park in glorious sunshine.
From midday until 3pm, the Green Flag Award-winning park was filled with families, friends and music fans who came armed with picnics and plenty of summer spirit. Many relaxed on the grass, soaking up the warm weather while enjoying live performances.
Local rock favourites Swampdog brought plenty of energy to the bandstand, joined by special guest Graham Smithies and Cait Fitton, who added a touch of TV to the afternoon.
Among those enjoying the sunshine was Cath, a Middleton resident who had attended with her grandson, aged 9. “It’s one of my favourite local events,” she said, smiling as she settled into her picnic chair. “You can’t beat live music in this setting, especially with the weather we’ve had today. It’s lovely to see so many people out. Rotary Middleton has done a brilliant job, it feels like the whole community’s come together.”
The day was made possible thanks to the efforts of Rotary Middleton and the support of local sponsors including BAR Preservation, Abra & Co. Opticians, The Old School Rooms and No Fuss IT.
