People in Bury are being asked for their views on council plans for housing across the borough over the next decade.
Bury Council has opened a 12-week consultation on its draft Housing Strategy 2026-2036.
The draft strategy sets out the council's housing priorities, including building more homes and affordable housing, improving existing properties and preventing homelessness.
It also includes plans to make homes safer and more energy efficient, raise standards in the private rented sector and improve council homes and estates.
Housing developments are planned as part of work in Bury town centre, Radcliffe, Prestwich and Whitefield.
The strategy also considers housing for older and disabled residents and young people leaving care.
Councillor Arif, cabinet member for housing services, said: “Everyone deserves a safe, affordable home in a community they are proud of. This strategy sets out our ambitions for housing in Bury over the next ten years, but before we finalise it, we want to hear from the people who live and work here.
“Whether you rent, own your home, run a business or support others in our communities, your views will help shape the final strategy, so please take a few minutes to get involved.”
The draft strategy was approved for public consultation by the council's cabinet on 30 June. It will replace the council's 2021-2025 Housing Strategy.
Councillor Morris, cabinet member for regeneration and growth, said: “Housing is at the heart of our plans for the borough, from the regeneration of our town centres to the new neighbourhoods planned for the years ahead.
“This consultation is a real opportunity for residents to influence where we go next, and I would encourage everyone to have their say.”
Housing consultancy arc4 worked with the council to develop the strategy following a review of housing needs carried out in 2025.
Two online events will be held as part of the consultation. An event for all residents and stakeholders will take place on Monday 7 September from 6pm to 7.30pm, followed by a session for people aged 35 and under on Tuesday 8 September at the same time.

The consultation opened on Thursday 13 August. The main body of the council's release gives a closing date of 5 November 2026.
Feedback will be used to prepare the final strategy, which is due to go before the council's cabinet later this year.
