Wardle Academy temporarily evacuated its buildings on Thursday after a small handheld fan overheated on site.
The school sought advice from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and evacuated students as a precaution while the incident was assessed.
Firefighters attended and confirmed the building was safe for everyone to return. Teaching resumed shortly afterwards.
In a message sent to parents and carers, the school said, “Earlier today, a small handheld fan overheated on site. We sought advice from the Fire Brigade and evacuated the building. The Fire Brigade attended and confirmed that the building was safe for everyone to return.
“We are pleased to share that as usual, all learners responded calmly throughout and learning resumed as normal shortly after.”
Initial reports on social media suggested a fan had exploded, but the school has confirmed the incident involved an overheating handheld fan.
No injuries have been reported.
