Rochdale Sea Cadets have been named the second best Sea Cadet detachment in the country after finishing runners up in the Gibraltar Cup at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon. The unit also won the Best Team Medic Award during the national competition.
TS Frobisher II represented Rochdale after being selected as one of just six detachments from across the UK to compete in the Gibraltar Cup, having qualified from a field of 186 detachments nationwide.
The competition concluded with Rochdale securing second place overall and taking first place in the Best Team Medic category.
Sharing the news, Rochdale Sea Cadets said, “Words can’t describe how proud we are. We have been on an incredible journey to get to where we are today, and becoming the second best detachment in the country is the most amazing feeling ever.”
The unit added, “Here at TS Frobisher II, hard work and commitment are values we truly pride ourselves on and we hope we’ve just shown all of our Ship’s Company what you can do when you believe in yourself, have fun and try your best.”
The team finished its announcement with the message, “BZ Rochdale, we did it.”
The Gibraltar Cup is one of the Sea Cadets’ national competitions and brings together some of the highest performing detachments from across the country to test a range of skills and teamwork.
