We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new co-station managers as Roch Valley Radio continues to grow across Greater Manchester.
The appointments come at a time when our volunteer base, local news coverage and community presence are stronger than ever.
Roch Valley Radio is pleased to announce the new appointments of Phil Salter and Steve Stubbs as co-station managers to help lead the station into its next phase of development.
Over the past few years, we have seen significant growth across all areas of the station. We now have more than 160 active volunteers supporting our work, making us one of the largest volunteer-led community radio organisations in Greater Manchester.
Our volunteers are involved in every part of the station, from presenting shows and producing programmes to supporting our outside broadcasts, attending community events, managing technical operations and helping deliver local news coverage across Rochdale, Bury, Bolton and Oldham.
Phil joined Roch Valley Radio in 2025 and brought with him a wealth of experience from hospital radio, where he held a station management role for many years. His experience of volunteer broadcasting and station development has already proved invaluable.
Steve has been part of the Roch Valley Radio family since the pandemic and has played a major role behind the scenes, as well as on-air, managing our music systems and helping ensure the station continues to run smoothly day after day.
Together, they share a clear vision for the future. Their focus will be on supporting volunteers, strengthening our output and ensuring Roch Valley Radio continues to provide a genuine local voice for the communities we serve.
With thousands of weekly listeners and broadcasting on DAB digital radio across the region, we continue to champion local stories, support local organisations and provide opportunities for people from all backgrounds to get involved in media and broadcasting.
These appointments represent another important step forward as we continue building a station that can stand alongside larger broadcasters while remaining proudly local and community-focused.
