Emergency services rushed to the M62 service station near Heywood but the 50-year-old sadly died at the scene.
A man has died at Birch services on the M62 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest in his car.
Emergency services were called to the Moto-run service station on the eastbound side of the motorway near Heywood at around 10.05am, today, Sunday 21 September.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man, aged 50, died at the scene despite emergency efforts. His next-of-kin have been informed.
The incident led to the temporary closure of the slip road to Birch services from the M62 eastbound carriageway. Access was restricted for nearly two hours before reopening around midday.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said:
“We were called to Birch Services at around 10.05am following reports of a medical episode involving a man in a vehicle. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.”
No further details about the man’s identity have been released at this stage.
