A charity in Langley is launching plans to turn two pieces of land beside Status 4 All Leisure Garden and Allotments into a new nature and wildlife space.
The community event will run from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday 4 April at Latrigg Crescent, Middleton, with free activities, food and live music.
Status 4 All Leisure Garden and Allotments is inviting residents to help shape the future of two neighbouring plots of land at its site on Latrigg Crescent, M24 4LA.
One of the plots is connected to the existing allotments and the other sits next to them. The charity wants to expand the area beyond food growing and create a space focused on wildlife, biodiversity and community use.
The launch day will include activities linked to biodiversity and early design ideas for the two sites. Visitors will be able to take part in planning the spaces, learn about the bee corner, and hear more about proposals to build Langley’s first bee hive.
Rachel Ford from Rochdale Council is due to lead a tour looking at wildlife and the trees next to the land. The event will also include choosing wooden wildlife carvings, an Easter egg hunt and activities supported by Groundwork.
Organisers said the project is being delivered in partnership with Bowlee Community Organisation and Rochdale Council, with funding from Reaching Communities and the Greater Manchester Green Space Fund.
Free food will be served at Bowlee Pavilion and live music is also planned during the afternoon.
Organisers are also asking people to sign up as volunteers to help transform the two spaces in the months ahead.
