Families across Oldham, Rochdale and all OL postcodes can now take advantage of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice’s Christmas tree recycling service, as the charity expands its reach for 2026.
The service, which runs between 6 and 18 January 2026, offers real Christmas tree collections for a minimum donation of £12. Trees will be collected from households and recycled into wood chippings or used in natural landscaping and conservation work, including barrier construction at Ogden Water.
Forget Me Not has operated the service in West Yorkshire since 2019, recycling over 2,500 trees in 2025 alone and raising more than £32,000 for children and families affected by life-shortening conditions. The move into OL postcodes follows growing support for the charity’s shop in Royton, which opened in 2018.
Georgia Lane, the charity’s fundraising manager, said: “Everyone has a lot to think about at Christmas so we’re urging people to get one job done nice and early this year and book their tree collection now. Every penny raised helps us continue our work with families who rely on our support.”
Forget Me Not estimates it needs £6.5 million annually to operate, with 80 percent of that total dependent on fundraising activities such as this.
Residents across the region are being encouraged to sign up before the deadline of 7 January 2026 at: https://www.forgetmenotchild.co.uk/christmas-tree-collections
