Warwick Mill is expected to be at the centre of a major regeneration announcement for Middleton town centre next week.

Rochdale Borough Council is understood to be preparing to take ownership of the mill, although the acquisition has not yet been formally confirmed.

Further details are expected at the Our Town, Our Future event at Middleton Arena on Monday 7 September.

Organisers have confirmed the event will include a major new regeneration announcement for Middleton town centre, alongside the results of a consultation involving nearly 2,500 residents and businesses.

The event is also expected to include an announcement about the first year of the Middleton Co-operative Mayoral Development Corporation.

Rose Marley and Steve Coogan, co-chairs of the development corporation, are due to attend alongside Rochdale Borough Council leader Councillor Neil Emmott and councillors June West and Dylan Williams.

Rochdale Council was approached for comment this week but didn’t respond to the right of reply.
