Bowlee Car Boot Sale and Market will return to Bowlee Community Park on Sunday 5 April for the start of its 2026 season.
Organised by Rochdale Borough Council, the popular market in Middleton will begin with a double event over the Easter bank holiday on Sunday 5 April and Monday 6 April.
The season will then continue on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays until 11 October, excluding Sunday 3 May.
Now in its sixteenth year, the event attracts thousands of visitors each week. Up to 31 sales are scheduled to take place during the 2026 season.
Seller prices have been frozen for the eighth consecutive year. Cars cost £15, small vans, people carriers and 4x4 vehicles cost £20, and large vans and above cost £25. Sellers do not need to pre book.
Buyer parking is available for more than 1,200 vehicles at £2.50 per car. On two of this year’s sale dates, parking will be reduced to £1.
The event will not take place on Sunday 3 May to allow for the annual Tour de Manc charity bike ride, which starts from Bowlee Park and offers 60 kilometre, 100 kilometre, 165 kilometre and 201 kilometre routes.
In response to customer feedback, if bad weather is forecast, a decision on whether the sale will go ahead will now be announced by 3pm on the day before the event.
Councillor Tricia Ayrton, cabinet member for climate change and environment, said “I am pleased this great event is returning to Bowlee Community Park for another year. We have an amazing following at Bowlee and last year was one of the busiest ever. Bargain hunters can dig out great deals and one off items, and of course you can sell your own things too. People are a lot more conscious about recycling and re selling now, so car boot sales are a great way of extending the life of items and reducing waste.”
Bowlee Community Park is located off Heywood Old Road in Middleton, with access from junction 19 of the M60 motorway.
Further details and full dates are available at rochdale.gov.uk and via the Bowlee Car Boot social media pages.
