A new fully funded music development programme has been launched in Rochdale to help emerging artists and aspiring sound engineers develop their skills and gain industry experience.
The programme offers two free opportunities for people who are from Rochdale or currently live in the borough.
The Artist Development Programme is aimed at musicians creating original material who are looking to progress their careers. Successful applicants will record a professionally produced single at Voltalab Sound Studios, receive mentoring from industry professionals and develop an Electronic Press Kit.
Participants will also receive a professionally produced music video, professional photography, networking opportunities and the chance to perform at a live showcase in Rochdale.
Applications are open to solo artists, duos, bands and ensembles from all musical genres. Applicants must perform original music, must not currently be signed to a record label and there is no age limit.
The Introduction to Sound programme is designed for people interested in studio recording and live sound engineering.
The practical sessions will cover recording drums, guitars, piano and vocals alongside digital audio workstations, outboard equipment and live sound. Participants will gain hands on studio experience, mentoring and networking opportunities to help them develop technical skills and explore careers within the music industry.
Voltalab Sound Studios said the project was created in response to a desire to strengthen opportunities for local musicians, producers and aspiring engineers by providing access to professional facilities, expert guidance and practical industry experience.
Both programmes are fully funded and free to successful applicants.
Applications are now open and close on Friday 14 August.
