Rochdale fight back to earn draw against Farnham Town in home friendly

Rochdale came from behind to draw 2 2 with National League South side Farnham Town in their first home pre season friendly at the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday.

Mani Dieseruvwe gave Dale an early lead after turning in Luke Hannant's low cross from close range following good work from Sam Beckwith.

Ian Watson's side controlled much of the game and created a number of chances, with Devante Rodney particularly unfortunate as he struck the woodwork three times.

Sam Waller, who recently signed a new one year contract, also made an important save to deny Billy Clifford during the first half.

Despite Dale's dominance, Farnham Town drew level seven minutes before the break through a remarkable effort from Rakish Bingham, who spotted Waller off his line and scored from just inside the Rochdale half.

Rodney continued to threaten after the restart. He rounded the goalkeeper only to see his effort hit the outside of the post before later diverting Tobi Adebayo Rowling's cross against the far upright.

Dieseruvwe also went close on several occasions as Rochdale continued to enjoy the majority of possession.

The visitors took the lead in the 71st minute when Dan Bayliss headed home at the back post after a long throw caused problems in the Dale penalty area.

Rochdale found an equaliser with eight minutes remaining. Ryan East delivered a corner to the near post where Ian Henderson got across his marker to head into the net and make it 2 2.

The draw completed another useful pre season outing for Dale in front of a crowd of 1,612 as preparations continued ahead of the new campaign.
