The Workers Party of Britain will not stand a candidate in the upcoming Gorton and Denton By-Election, after George Galloway said he would be on the ballot if Andy Burnham stood.
In a statement on X, the Party said the decision was difficult, adding the decision has been "taken in the best interests of the working-class. Labour and Reform must lose."

George Galloway has previously said that he would run for the party if Andy Burnham ran for the seat as the Labour Candidate. It was also speculated by the BBC that the Party had a list of four candidates to pick from, including Shahbaz Sarwar who is the Councillor for Longsight on Manchester City Council.
The Workers Party has previously had success in By-Elections in Greater Manchester, with George Galloway winning the Rochdale seat in February 2024 with 39.7% of the vote.
Your Party has also announced it won't stand a candidate in the By-Election, due to the election of their Central Executive Committee who decide their candidates.
