Oldham dad and son land Channel 4 spotlight after building huge Florida YouTube following

A father and son content team with roots in Chadderton and Royton are set to appear on Channel 4 as their Florida based YouTube channel continues to grow its international audience.

Tony Shard, who was born in Chadderton, attended Radclyffe School in Oldham before later studying at Royton and Crompton School. He was also previously on the schoolboy forms at Oldham Athletic A.F.C..

Shard has maintained close ties with Oldham since moving to the United States and regularly returns to England to visit family in Royton and spend time with childhood friends across the borough.

Now based in Orlando, Tony and his son Keegan Shard, who was born in Michigan, run the YouTube channel Kickin’ It with Keegan. The channel has built a following through videos focused on American theme parks, viral food locations, WWE events, conventions, travel experiences and family life in Florida from a British perspective.

According to the family, the channel has gained more than 50,000 YouTube subscribers and more than 23 million TikTok views.

The pair regularly produce content from attractions and events across Florida, including Disney parks, Universal Orlando seasonal celebrations, MegaCon Orlando and WWE live shows. Their videos also feature restaurant reviews, livestreams, YouTube Shorts and travel between England and Orlando.

The upcoming episode of Escape to Florida follows the family’s move to the United States and explores how life in Florida inspired the launch and growth of the channel.

Tony said “Our goal is to make viewers feel like they’re experiencing everything alongside us. Being an English family living in Florida gives us a unique perspective, and sharing those experiences together as father and son is what makes the channel special.”

The family say they plan to continue expanding the channel with more travel content, live event coverage, theme park experiences and interactive videos for viewers.
