Stop and search powers covering parts of Chadderton and Oldham have been extended until 6.30pm today following three serious assaults earlier this week.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the Section 60 order, first put in place on Thursday 12 February, will remain active until 6.30pm on Saturday 14 February.
The order covers a large area of Chadderton and Oldham after three separate stabbings took place on Thursday evening.
All three men injured in the attacks were taken to hospital. Police say their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Two arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area.
Section 60 powers give officers enhanced stop and search authority within a designated area for a limited period of time.
Police said neighbourhood teams are working alongside the force wide knife crime team, Operation Venture, to target those carrying weapons and prevent further violence.
Anyone with information about the incidents on Thursday 12 February is asked to contact police on 101. Reports can also be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
