United Utilities to host online recruitment event as wastewater hiring drive continues

United Utilities is inviting jobseekers from across the North West to join an online careers event as it begins the next phase of a major recruitment programme.

The water and wastewater company is expanding its workforce as part of what it describes as its largest ever environmental investment programme.

Hundreds of roles are currently available within its wastewater division, including positions for process operators, process controllers, field service engineers and customer support technicians.

Vacancies are based across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria and Lancashire. In Greater Manchester, roles are available in Davyhulme, Leigh, Oldham and Rochdale, Tameside, Salford, Trafford and Stockport. Opportunities include mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineers, as well as operational roles.

The online event will take place at 4pm on Wednesday 4 March. It will provide information about available positions and give prospective applicants the opportunity to hear directly from members of the wastewater team about their day to day work and career paths within the company.

Chris Borradaile, director of wastewater services at United Utilities, said: “The roles we are recruiting for will give people the opportunity to make a positive impact in the communities they work in. They will have the opportunity to build a career for life and benefit from comprehensive training and the opportunity for career development.

“We’re building new teams across the region. While, it isn’t necessary to have experience in water or wastewater, it is important to be customer focused and keen to be hands on.”

United Utilities employs around 7,000 staff and is the only North West based company listed in the FTSE 100.

New recruits are offered 26 days annual leave, rising to 30 days after four years of service, in addition to eight bank holidays. The pension scheme includes up to 14 percent employer contribution, with a combined contribution of up to 21 percent.

Employees also have access to a company funded healthcare plan, gym and wellbeing benefits, salary finance support, car and cycle to work schemes, enhanced parental leave and a performance related bonus scheme.

Further details about the event and current vacancies are available via the company’s website.
