Over 300 cannabis plants have been taken off the streets of Rochdale after neighbourhood officers raided two illegal growing operations in partnership with the local council.
Two men have been arrested after officers uncovered two separate cannabis farms during coordinated warrants executed early on Thursday morning, 23 October, across Rochdale.
The raids were carried out by the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Team, working alongside Rochdale Borough Council.
The first discovery was made at a property on Kings Road in Turf Hill, where officers found more than 200 cannabis plants being cultivated across two buildings. The premises were unoccupied, and officers noted that the electricity supply had been dangerously bypassed.
A second warrant was executed on Essex Street in the Milkstone and Deeplish area, where a further 100 plants were located. Two men were arrested at this address on suspicion of producing cannabis and abstracting electricity. They remain in police custody.
Sergeant Walsh from the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Team said: “The discovery of these cannabis grows while conducting partnership work with Rochdale Council is key in disrupting organised crime in the area.
“The large amount of cannabis seized was nearly ready to be harvested and would have soon been sold across Rochdale to vulnerable people.
“We encourage residents and members of the public to report any suspicious activity which may indicate similar crimes taking place.”
