Teen stabbed in Rochdale Bonfire Night attack as police cordon off street

A 17-year-old boy was hospitalised with serious injuries after a stabbing in Rochdale on Bonfire Night, with police launching a full forensic investigation

A teenage boy is recovering in hospital after being stabbed during a violent disturbance in Rochdale on Bonfire Night.

Police and forensic teams taped off parts of Bernard Street and Chatsworth Street in the Syke area shortly after 7pm on Wednesday 5 November. The 17-year-old was found with wounds described by officers as “consistent with a stabbing”.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which police say are not believed to be life-threatening.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed no arrests have yet been made. A spokesperson said:

“At around 7pm on Wednesday 5 November 2025, we were called to reports of a disturbance on Chatsworth Street in Rochdale. Officers attended the scene and located a 17-year-old boy with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”

Crime scene investigators and uniformed officers remained at the scene for several hours, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Parts of the residential street were cordoned off as police carried out a detailed forensic sweep.
