Over 600 residents braved torrential rain to support Springhill Hospice and raise a record-breaking £54,363
Rochdale’s community spirit was on full display on Saturday 20 September as more than 600 walkers took part in Springhill Hospice’s 3 Reservoir Ramble, raising a record-breaking £54,363 for local end-of-life care.
The sponsored walk, which took place despite heavy rain, is now the borough’s most successful single-day fundraising walk in recent memory, according to hospice staff.
“This amazing total marks the largest charity fundraising walk the Rochdale borough has seen in recent history,” said fundraising manager Sophie Ansley. “We are beyond grateful to everyone who helped make this event such a phenomenal success.”
The event, hosted in partnership with The Oxford pub and the Springhill fundraising team, attracted people of all ages and backgrounds, from local families and community groups to small businesses. Molesworths Solicitors sponsored the official event T-shirts, helping to raise awareness on the day and showing strong local support.
Volunteers, donors and even spectators were praised by the hospice team, who described the turnout as “a true reflection of Rochdale’s generosity and unity”.
Springhill Hospice, located in Rochdale, provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting conditions across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. Their 16-bed facility is supported by additional services including Hospice at Home, a community outreach team, and wellbeing therapies.
The funds raised will directly support these services, ensuring patients and families continue to receive high-quality, compassionate care from diagnosis to end of life.
