Rochdale businesses are being given direct, one-to-one access to global market entry experts as part of new initiative designed to help them tap into billions of pounds worth of untapped export opportunities.
GM Business Growth Hub, in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), are to deliver a Meet the Market Expert series, providing Rochdale businesses with practical, tailored support to allow them to enter, or expand further, into international markets.
The initiative comes at a time when UK businesses are navigating increasing complexity in global trade, despite significant growth potential across key markets. The European market alone represents $101bn in unrealised export opportunities for UK businesses, while major economies such as the United States, China, and India continue to offer substantial scope for expansion.
Unlike traditional workshops or webinars, the Meet the Market Expert series is built around focused, 25-minute one-to-one sessions, giving businesses the opportunity to speak directly with market entry experts specialising in specific global regions. Each session is designed to provide practical, in-market insight, covering everything from entry strategies and regulatory considerations to identifying commercial opportunities.
Taking place throughout July, each session will focus on a different region, including Europe and Oceania, The Americas, and Asia and the Middle East. Businesses will be able to review the full line-up of experts in advance and register their interest to be matched with the most relevant specialist for their growth ambitions.
The series reflects the increasing need for businesses to access targeted, expert-led support when expanding internationally, particularly in markets where local knowledge and experience can significantly reduce risk and accelerate growth.
Susana Cordoba, Head of International Trade Service, GM Business Growth Hub, said: “For many businesses, the challenge isn’t ambition — it’s knowing how to take the first step into a new market with confidence.
Through Meet the Market Expert, we are giving Rochdale businesses direct access to market entry experts who understand the realities of operating in these markets.
These are not generic sessions — they are focused, practical conversations designed to help businesses identify real opportunities and take informed steps towards international growth.”
The sessions are open to Rochdale-based businesses at all stages of their export journey from those exploring new markets for the first time to those looking to expand their international footprint.
