Police have issued a dispersal order due to ongoing anti-social behaviour in Bury.
The area covered by the notice is within the following boundary. Gigg Lane, Alfred Street, Heywood Street, Wash Lane, Peel Way, Jubilee Way and Manchester Road.
Inspector Scott Brady, who is the inspector for the area of Bury Town Centre, Bury East, Redvales and Moorside has authorised this order, which began at 2:30pm this afternoon (1 September 2022) and will last for 48 hours.
GMP Bury South have issued a message to local parents: "Enquire as to what your children are doing and who they are with. If your child is involved in ASB expect a visit from the police."
Cllr Tamoor Tariq, Bury Council's Deputy Leader said: "The last few nights in the Fishpool area have been amongst the worst I have known. The significant levels of ASB, with the use of fireworks being thrown at properties and passing cars, around Wellington Road, Grosvenor Street and Parkhill’s Road is completely unacceptable.
"For the last two nights I have been with residents past midnight out on the streets trying to provide support and reassurance. It is the right move by GMP to issue dispersal orders, there are many vulnerable families often with young children who are now frightened in their own homes.
"This sort of lawlessness with fireworks being launched at vehicles and properties should not be tolerated, and those involved should feel the full force of the law. I would encourage everyone to continue to report things to the police."
