Budding young artists across Bury have been invited to take part in a festive tradition by designing the official Christmas card for the town’s mayor, Councillor Noel Bayley.
The competition, open to all primary school children in the borough, has launched and runs until 31 October. The winning design will be printed on the mayor’s official card and sent out across the region to mark the holiday season.
Shortlisted entries will receive prizes, and a selection of the artworks will go on display in a special exhibition at Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre in the run-up to Christmas.
Councillor Bayley said:
“This much-loved competition is a wonderful opportunity for young people to get involved in a cherished local tradition, and for the whole community to come together in the spirit of the season. I look forward to seeing the many and wonderful designs that the borough’s talented young people can dream up.”
Children can submit their entries either through their school or by sending them directly to Bury Art Museum. To inspire participants, the museum will also host a creative space during the October half-term, 27–31 October, where children can complete their designs in an artistic setting.
The annual card design contest has become a highlight for many families and schools in Bury, combining festive spirit with a celebration of local creativity. The mayor’s office is expecting a wide range of imaginative and colourful submissions.
