Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare in Heywood and found a man dead at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said officers attended land near Bury New Road shortly before 5pm following a report raising concerns for a person’s welfare.
A man was found deceased at the location.
Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
No further details about the man or the circumstances of his death have been released at this stage.
There was a visible police presence in the area earlier yesterday evening, with officers carrying out enquiries locally.
