A man has been found dead in the water at Healey Dell Nature Reserve in Rochdale, police have confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called at around 9.40am today to reports of a body in the water in the Whitworth area of the borough. Emergency services attended the scene and a man was subsequently recovered.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were seen at the nature reserve earlier this afternoon, with a cordon put in place near the viaduct and members of the public turned away from parts of the site.
Officers have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing. No further details have been released and the man has not been formally identified at this stage.
Healey Dell Nature Reserve is a popular local beauty spot used daily by walkers, runners and dog walkers.
