A 22-year-old man has been charged with three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Adil Iqbal of Hope Street, Accrington has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday).
These charges relate to a road traffic collision on the M66 on Saturday afternoon, in which four people were injured.
A 38-year-old woman and three children were taken to hospital from the scene.
Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed earlier on Sunday that the woman's injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Police also thanked the selfless acts of members of the public who assisted at the scene.
