A disability rugby group at Rochdale Mayfield RLFC is going from strength to strength since its launch in 2024, with new players encouraged to join its inclusive monthly sessions.
Rochdale Mayfield Rugby League Club is continuing to recruit for its disability rugby group, offering an inclusive and adaptable space for disabled adults to enjoy the sport.
The club runs the group in partnership with Access Sport and PossAbilities, with sessions designed for anyone aged 16 and over who has a physical, learning or sensory disability. No previous rugby experience is needed, and all sessions are led by qualified coaches who tailor activities to individual needs.
The monthly programme is based at Rochdale Mayfield RLFC and has seen participant numbers rise steadily since it began last year.
Organisers say the sessions focus on building confidence, fitness, and friendships in a fun and supportive environment. Family members, carers, and supporters are also encouraged to attend.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Working alongside Access Sport and PossAbilities allows us to remove barriers to participation and ensure rugby is truly accessible for everyone. The growth we’ve seen since starting in 2024 shows just how important this programme is.”
