A Heywood takeaway previously rated zero stars for food hygiene has now been awarded a ‘good’ four-star rating following a reinspection by Rochdale Council’s food safety team.
Theo Bello, based on Market Street in Heywood, was given the lowest possible hygiene rating in late 2025 after an initial inspection uncovered major concerns. But following a series of improvements and a formal reinspection on 14 January 2026, the Food Standards Agency has now confirmed the business has received a Food Hygiene Rating of 4 out of 5.
Speaking after the upgrade, business owner Ali Nouri said the latest result better reflects the current standards at the premises.
Speaking to Roch Valley Radio, he said: “All food safety regulations and standards were fully met during the inspection. The allergy certification is currently being completed and we’re taking all necessary steps to secure this as soon as possible.”
Mr Nouri also expressed concern that the original zero-rating report had caused reputational and financial damage to the business, despite the corrective process already being underway at the time.
He added: “This new four-star rating is official and reflects the substantial improvements we’ve made. We remain fully committed to food safety, transparency, and high standards for our customers.”
The updated rating has now been published on the official Food Standards Agency website.
