A 59-year-old man has died following a multi-vehicle crash on the M60 near Salford, as his family pay heartfelt tribute and police continue their appeal for witnesses.
A man who died in a fatal collision on the M60 has been named as 59-year-old David Shepherd, described by his loved ones as someone who “brightened the lives of everyone around him”.
Mr Shepherd died following a serious crash involving two cars and a motorbike on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 15 and 16 near Salford. The incident took place at around 6.15pm on Sunday 12 October.
In a statement released through Greater Manchester Police, Mr Shepherd’s family said: “He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, partner and friend to all. David embraced life with a boyish charm and a smile on his face. He lived each day as it came and brightened the lives of everyone around him. He will forever be in our hearts.”
Two people were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They have since been bailed while further enquiries continue.
Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage from that part of the M60 on the evening of the crash, to come forward.
