Emergency services closed Wardle Road in Rochdale following an ongoing incident this afternoon. 4 January, causing disruption for drivers in the area.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are currently turning motorists away at the junction with Halifax Road, as officers work alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.
Reports also suggest that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is on scene, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The nature of the incident has not yet been disclosed. GMP has been approached for comment, and updates will follow as soon as more information becomes available.
The closure is affecting local traffic and anyone attempting to travel through Wardle or towards Littleborough is advised to find alternative routes.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said;
At around 2pm today we received reports of a vehicle that had collided into a bus stop on Wardle Road, Littleborough, injuring a man and a woman.
Both the man and the woman have been taken to hospital with serious injuries but not thought to be life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and emergency services remain in attendance.
