Cllr Tamoor Tariq is stepping down from his position as deputy leader and cabinet member for Health, a council spokesperson has confirmed.
Cllr Tamoor, the ‘unhinged deputy council leader’ following multiple outbursts in recent months, has today stepped down as Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Bury Council.
It is also believed from Labour sources that Tamoor was suspended from the Labour Party on the 3rd of January due to an ongoing police matter after the councillor had been released on police bail.
This afternoon, Bury Council has confirmed that Cllr Tariq is stepping down, and a further statement will be released shortly.
Bury Labour have been approached for comment.
