Bury South MP Christian Wakeford has said he will not be voting for the Prime Minister's Plan B branding it as 'damaging'
The Prime Minister announced the new measures yesterday that included face coverings being mandatory in most indoor settings as well as the use of vaccine passports at large events.
This comes after the new Omicron variant has swept across the nation, as of yesterday 568 cases have been confirmed in the UK.
Early analysis from the UK Health Security Agency suggests the doubling time could be as little as 2.5 to 3 days.
The PM described the new rules as 'proportionate and responsible'
Mr Wakeford said in a tweet: "I have long been a critic of vaccine passports having previously raised the matter in the chamber, so will vote against their introduction next week.
"The new restrictions are conflicting and damaging where you are to work from home but go to parties.
"I cannot support Plan B."
The 37-year-old was elected to his seat in December 2019 with a majority of 408, the 10th most marginal seat in the UK.
