Bury Town Centre burst into a vibrant celebration at Bury Pride throughout the day on Saturday, June 1st.
The town was awash with colour as the parade route through Bury became a canvas of diversity and unity, marking one of the most memorable Pride events to date.
Headlining the festivities was the fabulous Divina de Campo, renowned from Drag Race UK, who delivered a show-stopping performance that left the crowd wanting more. Accompanied by Divina throughout the day was the sensational drag comedian Lady Bushra, whose comedic talents added a humour to the day's celebrations.
The parade, filled with exuberant participants and spectators, showcased a spectrum of rainbow flags, dazzling costumes, and contagious smiles. The sense of community and acceptance was palpable, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration and solidarity.
Organiser David Murphy expressed his delight with the day's success speaking to our team, stating,
"This has been a fantastic day today. This year saw a change in the format of how we deliver Pride, with the event being entirely outside and featuring a later stage time. The weather has been great, and everyone has raved about how much fun they have had."
The shift to an entirely outdoor format proved to be a winning formula. The later stage time allowed for a seamless flow of performances and activities, ensuring that the energy remained high throughout the day.
The sense of inclusion and acceptance was evident, as people from all walks of life came together to celebrate love, diversity, and equality.
Bury Pride 2024 not only highlighted the town's commitment to inclusivity but also served as a powerful reminder of the progress made in the fight for LGBTQI+ rights within the borough.
