Bury North MP James Frith visited a housing development in Walmersley to meet an award winning site manager recognised for national construction standards.
The visit took place at Barratt Homes’ Waldmers Wood development on Walmersley Old Road, where the MP met site manager Sean O’Regan.
Mr O’Regan received both a Pride in the Job Quality Award and a Seal of Excellence from the National House Building Council in 2025, recognising the standards achieved on the development.
During the visit, Mr Frith was given a tour of the site by Barratt Homes representatives including managing director Rhys Nicholson, construction director John McNulty and sales director Alan Watt. The visit included an overview of the construction progress and the energy efficient features being built into the homes.
The development includes a mix of two, three and four bedroom properties, including apartments and lower cost homes. A total of 268 homes are planned for the site, with 33 designated as affordable housing as part of the planning agreement.
Barratt Homes has also committed £156000 towards local community investment to support services and facilities in the surrounding area.
James Frith MP said “Visiting Waldmers Wood was a great opportunity to see first hand the high quality homes being delivered here in Bury and to meet the dedicated team behind them. I was especially pleased to congratulate Sean on his well deserved national recognition which reflects the pride and professionalism going into this development.
“Schemes like this are vital to helping more people access high quality modern and energy efficient homes. Too many first time buyers feel locked out of the market not because they cannot afford monthly repayments but because they do not have access to large deposits or family support. That has to change.
“Labour is committed to making home ownership a reality again with major investment in social and affordable housing and action to improve mortgage affordability. Everyone deserves the chance to put down roots and build a future in the community they call home.”
